On the Number 100

This is my one hundredth post...speaking of one hundred...

100 Cans by Andy Warhol

A lot can happen in 100 days. From my first day here August 28th to December 6th, when I went for a long walk in the snow with a friend, the Saturday after first semester classes ended was 100 Days.
100 days ago was Nov 25...and I was stressed about first semester assignments and essays. In 100 Days it will be June 13th...and 100 days from then will be September 21, three weeks into my second year at Mount Allison.

100 days can be converted to one of these units:
  • 8,640,000 seconds
  • 144,000 minutes
  • 2400 hours
  • 14 weeks (rounded down)
Rolling Stone's 100th Greatest Song of All Time:
100. You Can't Always Get What You Want, The Rolling Stones

You can live to be a hundred if you give up all the things that make you want to live to be a hundred.

-Woody Allen (1935 - )

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life.

-William Faulkner (1897 - 1962)

All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

-John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963), inaugural address, 1961

As you grow older, it becomes harder to feel 100 percent happy; you learn all the things that can go wrong; you become superstitious about tempting fate, about bringing disaster upon your life by accidentally feeling too good one day.

-Douglas Coupland, Shampoo Planet

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.

-Winnie the Pooh

Nothing is illegal if one hundred businessmen decide to do it.

-Andrew Young

When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.

  1. One hundred posts since September. I cannot imagine from what pool of life you draw your time and motivation.
