Going to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications to study Public Relations

Today I'm moving to Syracuse, NY to begin my 13-month M.S. in Public Relations at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. That's really about it. It's been nice to spend the roughly 7 weeks in between Mount Allison and this program. It's really different moving out for the second time. The point of the program is to be fully employed by the end of it so it's probably the last time I'll be living at home.

I've been talking to a few friends from Mount Allison over the last few weeks and while people go their separate ways and make their own paths I'll do my best to keep in touch and they'll always have a special place in my heart.

Even now it's a bit bittersweet but life can't be just about looking back. I wish all my friends, co-workers, and professors the best of luck and I'm looking forward to the changes and challenges ahead. Wow that was a corny sentence. I really mean it though.

That's really all I have for now. If you want to see what I'm doing now take a look at my new website. I'll keep this blog separate as it's still being read and update when there's major changes in my life or if I decide to wax sentimental I'll update people here.

Best of luck,

Geoff

Geoff Campbell is moving

Hey everyone,

This post is just to let you know I'll soon be moving all my writing to Geoff Campbell, my personal website. All of the posts here are now available there. If you'd like to follow along please update your RSS feed reader to Geoff Campbell. As soon as Blogger fixes the bug they have with the bX error I'll be custom directing all of my posts here to the new site.

Geoff Campbell (http://geoffbcampbell.com) will be a repository of my past and current work in addition to musings about public relations.

If you'd like to follow along in other ways you can reach me casually @GeoffBCampbell (Geoff Campbell), professionally on LinkedIn (Geoff Campbell), and infrequently on Google+ (Geoff Campbell).

Students- Request for input on Mount Allison University's Website Redesign Project

Cundari is helping create Mt. A's new website. Help Mt. A by providing your input to them.
Hi everybody,

I'd like to relay a message sent this afternoon to all students in case you're not checking your webmail often this summer. There's a chance to provide input to the website design firm who was hired to help create a new website for the school. Your views will help form, at this early stage, how the website will be built. I'm leaving Sackville on May 15th so I cannot attend but I really hope you can. It's a really important project for the school, you get Mt A swag, and the free coffee is a great boost to any morning. Providing my input to the University's branding project was my first interaction with the communications department and look where it got me. I really hope you'll help:

At 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, representatives from Cundari, the consultants hired to work on the project, will be on campus to facilitate a 1.5-hour session designed to help understand how you (students) use our web, the information and services you want, and the challenges you face with the current site.

Your input is critical to providing a web site that is effective for current and prospective students.

We expect an interesting and lively discussion and, of course, will we will provide refreshments. To ensure adequate time to express yourselves, participation is limited to 12 registrants. As a thanks for your help, you can have your pick of swag: A Mount A pen, coffee mug, or t-shirt.

To register, please send an e-mail expressing your intent to participate to: tfrost@mta.ca. Include your program, year, and hometown. The deadline for registration is Thursday, May 10.

More information on the project is available at www.mta.ca/web.

Regards,

My New Website: GeoffBCampbell.com

Last night I finished putting up the bare bones on my new personal website/blog at GeoffBCampbell.com. Currently I only have an About page, Education, and Experience (Communications Assistant, Online Editor, Public Relations Coordinator, and Social Media Publisher). I'll be adding a bit more to the skeleton I have up now, and pretty soon I'll be doing my writing over there but for now I wanted to let you all take a look. After convocation on May 14th I won't be posting here often if at all so there's where you can get in touch with me. I hope you like it.
